The Debden brand was created by Evan Coady, the founder of Nippecraft, in 1978. He had named the brand after Debden Road, a Singapore street that was part of Changi International Airport at the time. A year later, the brand expanded into Australia as Debden Associates, importing diaries from Nippecraft, broadening its product range to cate both the retail and corporate marketplaces.
